The Big Squeeze: Stories of Education Accountability (CPRE VIDEO)
At a time when politicians are being forced to cut local, state, and federal budgets, education policy, funding, and reform stand at the forefront of public discourse. Within this dialogue, education accountability remains a recurring theme. How do we make states, districts, and schools accountable for the performance of their students? In addition to this challenge, how do we establish fair assessments, accurate performance levels, and sufficient rewards and sanctions? Jonathan Supovitz, Co-Director of the Consortium for Policy Research in Education and Associate Professor at Penn's Graduate School of Education, recently led a discussion with a panel of representatives from across the academic community to discuss these issues. The Event took place on Thursday April 28th, 2011, in Washington DC.
