Professional Biography

Dr. Bobbi Newman has worked as a classroom teacher, supervisor of instructional personnel, district-level staff member, consultant, adjunct instructor on the graduate level, and researcher. Newman holds an Ed.D. and M.S. in Curriculum and Teaching specialization in Educational Leadership, Teacher Education and Supervision/Staff Development from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is a certified school administrator and principal in New Jersey. She has been a consultant to Educational Testing Services (ETS), state education agencies and local school districts, as well as a special services employee with the New Jersey Department of Education. Bobbi has worked on mixed-methods research projects conducted on the local, state, federal, and international level. Previously, she was a Research Associate at the Center for Research in Educational Policy at the University of Memphis.  Recently, she co-authored an analysis of the role of the Common Core in the gubernatorial elections of 2014 and implementation study of the Common Core in New York City public schools. Presently, she is helping to facilitate a task force on school leadership hosted by the National Association of State Boards of Education.
