International Baccalaureate- CPRE Teachers College
Technical Assistance Director: Bill Stroud
Research Director: Tom Corcoran (CPRE-Teachers College)
With funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, IB is undertaking a three-year effort to increase student participation and success in the Diploma Programme by developing curriculum and assessment resources aimed at improving the recruitment and preparation of 9th and 10th grade students, particularly low-income and minority students. The project seeks to change the experience and success of low-income and minority students who could enter the Diploma Programme, but who do not, because they are not exposed to challenging and rigorous educational opportunities in grades in the years leading up to the Diploma or because they do not believe that the IB program is intended for students like themselves. CPRE is assisting IB with the demonstration and delivery of the new tools and resources being developed for their Access Project and providing professional development to teachers in the eight schools on the use of high impact instructional practices. In addition, other CPRE staff are conducting the formative evaluation of the project.
