Facilitating Productive Discussions in Professional Development Settings

CPRE researchers Caroline Ebby and Andrea Oettinger presented their paper "Facilitating Productive Discussions in Professional Development Settings" at the Research Pre-session of the Annual Meeting of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) on April 17 in Denver. Drawing on data from a mixed methods experimental research study, they presented a framework for the facilitation of mathematics professional learning communities (PLCs) where classroom-embedded data is used to generate instructional implications grounded in student thinking.
