CPRE Begins New Initiative to Reshape Early Education Data Systems
The W. K. Kellogg Foundation has awarded the Consortium for Policy Research in Education (CPRE) at University of Pennsylvania, $5,000,000 to strengthen states' use of early childhood education data systems.
"Given the size, complexity and multiple audiences of state early childhood data systems, the task of effectively using data for improving outcomes for all children, including those most vulnerable, might be viewed as overwhelming for many states," said Dr. Sirinides, CPRE senior researcher. "That said, we believe that at least a handful of states are making progress. As best practices emerge it is therefore imperative to begin developing a playbook that can support the right people with the right strategies to further improve data use in the field." The project will support a cohort of states to develop new strategies for evidence-based decision-making and quality improvement in early learning programs.
