The Study of School Leadership

CPRE is conducting an independent research study of the influence of leadership development on principals' leadership knowledge and practices, teachers' opportunities and efforts to improve instruction, and student learning.

Over four years, from 2005 to 2008, CPRE reseachers will collect data from principals to understand the challenges that urban principals face and how leadership development is influencing their efforts to lead their schools. Using a variety of innovative data collection strategies, CPRE will identify the influences of various leadership strategies and the conditions under which those strategies produce powerful teaching and learning.
