    Thomas B. Corcoran is co-director of the Consortium for Policy Research in Education (CPRE). Previously, Corcoran served as an education policy advisor for New Jersey Governor Jim Florio; director of school improvement for Research for Better Schools; and director of evaluation and chief of staff of the New Jersey Department of Education. He has served as a consultant to urban school districts and national foundations on improving school effectiveness and equity, and as a member of two National Research Council study committees addressing K-8 science and the framework for Next Generation Science Standards.

    Corcoran’s research interests include strategies for improving instruction, the use of research findings and clinical expertise to inform instructional policy and practice, the effectiveness of varying approaches to professional development, knowledge management systems for schools, and the impact of work environment changes on teacher and student productivity.
